Mealworms, Pupae, and Beetles are hormone free. All are protein-packed with approximately 59% Moisture, 10% Protein, 13% Fat, Fiber 1.8%, 330mg/kg Calcium and 1650mg/kg Phosphorus.
Welcome to DARKLING ACRES. The goal originally was to raise a few mealworms to attract more birds to the yard. In a very short while, It was decided to expand the volume and offer Mealworms and Frass (Mealworm poop) to others in the area that have exotic pets or chickens. The farm maybe small but is growing everyday with Healthy, Live Mealworms. They are raised hormone and chemical free. I care for the mealworms and beetles daily with all-natural feed. Contact me with any special requests. DARKLING ACRES is concerned for our environment. In order to reduce waste and be environmentally responsible, DARKLING ACRES may deliver your order in materials previously used for other purposes. Most of my time is spent filling orders and taking care of the worms. Currently, the best way to contact us is through email.

Do Mealworms or Beetles make sounds?
Mealworms may make a quiet ‘rustling’ sound when a group of them are together. The Beetles feet may make a slight scratching sound when walking on a rough surface.
For a long time it was believed Mealworms did not bite. This however proven false in September 2022. They have small jaws and are not able to bite very hard but may break tender skin if exposed.
Do the insects smell?
No, they are very clean and do not emit any odours.
